This lottery funded project consisted of two main elements, the first being the alteration and refurbishment of the existing hall and kitchen area and the second, the construction of a new extension to provide additional meeting space as well as new toilet and storage facilities.
The refurbishment works included lowering the floor level of the existing hall by approximately 700mm, the installation of support steelwork to allow a substantial section of the existing external wall to be removed (solid construction 500mm thick), repairs to the existing roof structure including the king post trusses along with a replacement of the roof finishes and rainwater goods throughout.
The new extension was constructed of carefully sourced reclaimed masonry to match the existing building along with a truss and tiled roof construction.
The internal fit out was completed with the hall’s many varied uses in mind. The works also included a complete mechanical and electrical fit out with the installation of various lighting to suit everything from pilates and flower arranging right through to disco’s and wedding receptions.
